The Beginning of My Why...

Good morning, Friends! Today I want to tell you part my why. Well, at least the beginning. The introduction to my why for what I do, what about photography that makes me tick, and why I am pursuing this as my “dream” career!

Photography for me is about so much more than taking pictures. To start with, growing up my Grandma was always behind a camera - trying to capture every moment for us. She needed it and we placated her most of the time. Now that she is gone, I find myself wishing many times, that we would have pushed more for her to take even more photos for us. AND that we would have tried harder to get her out from behind the camera. To get her in the pictures with us. To see more of her smile. Not only did my Grandma spark my interest in photography, she (and my mom) instilled in me a love of reading. Being so engaged with a book or story that when I finished it, it felt like the world around me was now missing something. I wanted others to experience that with me.

There have been many things in my life that have made me. Some of them have been amazing and I wouldn’t trade them for anything at all!! Some of them, I wish never would have happened and don’t understand why God did allow them to. But, they have all shaped me in some way. Very recently, I have come to realize that my story is worth telling. Some won’t care or be able to relate, and that is totally fine. But there are some who do care and who can relate and have not yet realized that they are not alone or that their story does in fact matter and is worth telling.

I have decided that I am going to begin telling my story. As hard to hear as some of it is - and as hard as it will be to share some of it, I know that being real, open, and vulnerable is something that God has been asking of me and teaching me, and I want to follow His plan. So, within the next weeks, I am going to tell you my story.

And through my business, through my photography, I hope that I can learn your story. I want to know about you and what makes you tick. And I hope to capture images for you that will help you tell your story. Because you do matter. You are important. Your life does have a purpose and a reason. I want to know you. I want to hear about your story - your life. I want to you to feel seen and heard. I value you! More importantly, God values you!

Family Session in Mckinney

The Jones Family. We had their family session in Mckinney at a somewhat hidden park. It was a beautiful evening, though slightly chilly. The crispness reminded us all that fall is coming to and end and Christmas and the end of the year are coming quickly upon us. This year has gone by so fast!

But this family, ya’ll!! They are SO sweet! I met them through the gymnastics gym that I coached at for over a year and now we go to the same church! They have two daughters who are so kind and compassionate. They are loyal friends, great encouragers, and are always there for those around them. These characteristics not only in this beautiful couple that has been together for 24 years, but also in their two daughters. They are also adorably silly with great personalities! I love their personality and jokes they tell. The quiet souls that genuinely care for others. The tenacious work ethic and the drive to always be better (and not in comparison to other people, but to who they were the day or practice before).

This family is so genuine and warm! They are people you could spend hours talking and laughing with, then when you look at the clock, you can’t even imagine how that much time has passed because you are having such a great time enjoying their company!! I am so thankful that they are a part of my life!

Stuart and Sandra, thank you for giving me the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family! It has been a privilege to get to know you and to be able to capture some big family memories! I really enjoyed the fact that our session was the day before Halle’s 10th birthday and Rachel’s half-birthday!

I love the fact that your girls are always smiling and in a good mood. Their joyful spirits are a blessing to those around them. And your gracious leadership and parenting of them shines through in how respectful and kind they are to everyone. They stand up for the “outcasts” or for those who are being mistreated. They are beautiful souls, just like you two!
